7 Things

I've been tagged by Cliotech for the "7 Things Meme". I apologize to the first person who tagged me, but I just didn't get to it until now.
What is the focus of this meme?

Participants in the online community affectionately known as the "Eduverse" have begun "tagging" fellow members to invite them to post a list of "7 Little-Known Facts" about themselves to their blog. On sites such as Twitter and Plurk, members of the Eduverse PLN (professional learning network or personal learning network) are reaching out to each other to go deeper than the ordinary, professional issues to reveal more personal information.

Here are the rules for this game:
• Link your original tagger(s), and list these rules on your blog.
• Share seven facts about yourself in the post - some random, some weird.
• Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
• Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs and/or Twitter.

So, here goes . . .

1. I have had many jobs in my life along the way to what I do now. I have been a babysitter, hospital cafeteria worker, department store and drugstore salesperson, bartender, Kelly Girl (do you remember them?), English teacher (in Spain), phone solicitor (in Spanish!), cake decorator, stockbroker, travel agent, Registered Nurse, and Spanish teacher.

2. I am the oldest of 5 children. The next 4 were four years after me and there are four of them within four years. I was always being left "in charge".

3. I love reading and the first book I ever stayed up all night to finish was Little Women in third grade. I still remember the emotions I felt reading that book. I also really related to the Meg character (see #2 above.)

4. I have dual citizenship through my paternal grandparents who were from Ireland. They were from the North (Derry) but they were born before the split so they still had Irish Citizenship. Until two years ago, I was a citizen of a country I had never been to.

5. I love traveling but am terrified of flying. I force myself to fly but landings and takeoffs are nerve wracking. As they say...the second greatest thrill known to man is flying. The first greatest thrill is landing!

6. When I had my wisdom teeth out some 20 years ago there were nine of them. Yup, nine! The oral surgeon told me it was a throwback to a time when people lost many teeth and needed more. I tell my kids it is because I have so much wisdom!

7. I love the beach and the water. Maybe it is because of my zodiac sign (Cancer) or just because some of my happiest childhood memories are from the beach. I try to collect shells (a few) from every beach I go to and I have a large jar of shells.

I guess those were pretty lame, but I'm just not sure what my PLN doesn't already know about me.

I'm not tagging anyone because most of my friends/colleagues have already posted. If you haven't consider yourself tagged. Don't forget to add yourselves to the 7 Things Wiki once you post.

  1. I'm always in awe of anyone who can easily switch between two or more languages. But you're even able to do telemarketing in another language! That's impressive!

You had good taste in reading as a young girl! I was a book geek, too ~ it was my other world, my escape, my inspiration and my private circle of friends. I never knew anyone else who loved books when I was a kid, so it's always fun to find out that someone I know was also a reader.

Thanks for sharing your 7 things! I'll save you some shells the next time I go to Va. Beach or Nags Head. I'll give each shell a story, just to make it fun.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I knew that you were extra smart for a reason! I have a feeling that these 7 things just skim the surface! My daughter Erin collects shells too! Wish that you could teach her your restraint to stop at only a few per beach! Thanks for sharing.
